Hugo Chávez, the late president of Venezuela, based his politics on two pillars, reducing poverty and promoting regional integration. These goals helped transform Venezuela into one of the leading actors in the region behind this line of action.

Andrés Rivarola Puntigliano, Associate Professor in economic history and lecturer in Latin American Studies at Stockholm University visits UF to discuss if Hugo Chávez’s goals could be supported by other Latin-American nations. Is a Latin American union a possibility or a demagogic chimera?
